NATO Days in Ostrava entered into a partnership with one of the most prestigious European shows

We started to cooperate with RAF Waddington International Air Show, the largest official air show of the British Royal Air Force. 

RAF base in Waddington already is a long-time partner of NATO Days in Ostrava. “Its servicemen are regular participants in our event with their E-3D Sentry aircraft – a British version of the AWACS system,” connotes Zbyněk Pavlačík, the chairman of the Jagello 2000 Association, which organizes NATO Days in Ostrava. According to him, the cooperation between the both events started logically. “We agreed on a partnership encompassing a mutual propagation and support and exchange of experience,” enumerates Pavlačík. Visitors of web pages of the both events can notice banners of the other event, which the organizers agreed to exchange. “We highly value the partnership with this show, one of the most prestigious European shows, and we believe that it will be beneficial for both sides. It is a real honour for us,” adds Pavlačík and he appends, that this is a further widening of cooperation with the Royal Air Force, which is a key foreign partner of NATO Days in Ostrava.

Kateřina Greenlaw from the Waddington show organizational team confirms his words. “RAF Waddington International Air Show, the largest air show of the Royal Air Force, is delighted to enter into a partnership with NATO Days in Ostrava, Central Europe’s largest army-airforce-security show,” says she in a press release. “Our relationship will enable us to share our extensive experience to develop both our event and offer publicity support for each other,” adds she. RAF Waddington International Air Show enjoys an extensive support of the Army of the Czech Republic, which takes part in this largest event on the British Isles every year. “We are extremely grateful to be able to work together with NATO Days in Ostrava to provide both countries with the best of the best spectacular,” closes up Greenlaw.

The first exchange of information took place in the beginning of November. One of the main topics was traffic. A record number of 175,000 visitors visited Waddington International Air Show 2009, NATO Days in Ostrava were visited by also a record number of 135,000 visitors and both events were accompanied by traffic complications. “It was very beneficial to discuss aerial imagery showing a situation around the airport on Saturday, when both events had been visited by most visitors and to discuss particular organizational measures. Gained findings are furthermore valuable as such an open cooperation between organizers of two events is not quite common,” encloses Pavlačík.

The risk of employment of the weapons of mass destruction (chemical, biological and nuclear) is one of the main threats, which we face today. There is a specially team of the US Army trained exactly against this „dirty warfare”, which is going to present its capabilities. It is going to be the first show of a US Army ground troops on the NATO Days in Ostrava.

This year anniversary NATO Days in Ostrava will again offer a dominant static display, which will no doubt be one of the biggest attractions in the 10-year history of the show – a legendary heavy strategic bomber B-52 Stratofortress of the United States Air Force.

This year it will be the second time when a pair of the NATO’s early warning aircrafts AWACS will take part in the show on Mošnov. The visitors of the NATO Days in Ostrava will have the opportunity to see an E-3A from the NATO base in Geilenkirchen and a more modern British E-3D from RAF Waddington.

German tanks have been among the world elite in this type of military equipment for very long time. Tradition of German tank school can be tracked since the World War II, when Tigers and Panthers decimated their opponents on European battlefield. On the NATO Days visitors will have the opportunity to see the follower of these famous war machines – Leopard 1 from the collection of the Military Historic Institute.
