U.S. Air Force to present rescue version of Black Hawk
Airplanes from RAF Lakenheat base are every time one of the main attractions at NATO Days in Ostrava. An American HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter is coming from this base to Mošnov this year.
This helicopter belongs to the wide S-70 family and in fact it is a Black Hawk helicopter modified for combat search and rescue (CSAR) operations. Thanks to its universality and ability to operate at night it is being used also for civilian purposes, evacuation or in humanitarian missions.
“This helicopter will certainly be an interesting diversification of the static displays. It serves with the U.S. Air Force, in the 56th Rescue Squadron, but at the same time it is being used for rescue purposes and civilian operations,” highlights Zbyněk Pavlačík, the chairman of the Jagello 2000 Association, who is convinced, that Pave Hawk will be interesting for the visitors.
As we have already informed you earlier, the American Pave Hawk won’t be the only member of the S-70 family at the 10th NATO Days in Ostrava. The participation of the Austrian S-70A Black Hawk (export version of UH-60) will bring a chance to compare two versions of this helicopter that is in use not only in the United States of America, but also in many other countries around the world. Visitors of NATO Days in Ostrava 2008 could see also the original version – a UH-60 of the United States Air Force - Europe.
