The participation of the RAF at NATO Day is the greatest ever in Czech history
Visitors to NATO Day in Ostrava, which will be held on the 16th September 2006 at Mošnov Airport, will be able to enjoy the greatest ever participation of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) in the Czech Republic.
The RAF will display 21 different kinds of aircraft, and these planes will be accompanied by a hundred pilots and air staff. “It is our greatest participation ever on Czech soil, and the third greatest in Europe this year, not counting the traditional air days in Farnborough and Fairford,” confirmed Colonel Simon Newton, the British defence attaché in Prague.
The RAF will display the British version of AWACS, the E-3D Sentry early warning system aircraft, for the very first time in the Czech Republic. Also on show will be the GR.7 Harrier, the GR.4 Tornado, the F3 Tornado, as well as the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft. And of course, a performance not to miss will be the world famous aerobatic group the Red Arrows, who will be adorning the skies in their Hawk training aircraft, which should certainly attract a lot of attention, not to mention spectators.
“NATO Day in Ostrava is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the Special Defence Relationship our countries enjoy,” added Colonel Newton. The RAF participated in NATO Day in Ostrava for the first time last year when they displayed two F3 Tornado aircraft.
