We would like to thank you for all the feedback and comments we received following the seventh edition of NATO Day in Ostrava. Most of the observations made were very encouraging and extremely useful for us to know. Here is our reaction to the first five subject matters and rest assured we are working intensively on the remaining ones and we will publish our reactions to them as soon as possible.

The organizers of NATO Day in Ostrava donated eighty-five thousand Czech Koruna to the Heritage of Flying Legends (HFL) Association. Zbyněk Pavlačík, the chairman of Jagello 2000 who are the event organizers, handed over a symbolic cheque to Vladímír Peroutka at the show in Mošnov airport.

This year’s edition of NATO Day in Ostrava will also feature a special associated event. On Friday the 14th of September, at the airport of the flying school Let’s Fly, Czech and foreign specialists will meet to discuss the technical and political aspects as well as the implications of the Czech Air Force in securing the airspace of NATO Baltic members in the so-called air-policing in 2009.

Czech television will provide live footage of the inbound flights of the 2 Eurofighter Typhoon F2 aircraft on its news channel CT 24. This was confirmed to organizers by Mr. Karel Novak, the general editor of the Ostrava studio of Czech television.

The unique competition for an excursion to a Royal Air Force military base in Scotland has a winner. The winner received an air tour that included a weekend stay, where a prize unavailable at any travel agent in the world.

Spain will be making its debut at this year’s NATO Day in Ostrava event and that means so will Captain Alberto Valero Martinez, flying instructor and display pilot of the F-18 Hornet. Captain Martinez has been a pilot in the Spanish Air Force for almost 15 years and has flown 2000 hours, 1100 of them in the Hornet seat.

Another aircraft which is currently seeking service with the Czech Air Force, and which the Spanish Air Force have decided to display at the NATO Day in Ostrava event is the CASA C-295M tactical, transport aircraft. Visitors to this year’s NATO Day will have the chance to see it for the first time in both a static and dynamic exhibition. Two versions of this aircraft will actually be on show at Mošnov airport – a Polish CASA in a static exhibition and a Spanish CASA which will take part in a flight demonstration as well.
